I’ve been an artist all my life, in fact, there is a history of artists and the entertainment industry in my family genes. I’m also an educated artist, with a BA degree, cum laude, specializng in drawing & ceramics. I taught art for ten years at Piedmont adult school before embarking on my party entertainment ventures.
Face Painting, which I’ve been doing for 20+ years came very easiily and naturally to me, but not without education. I’ve studied with many of the top artist’s in the field including, The Wolfe Bros, Olivier, Pashur, & Ginny, to name a few. I also lead workshops from time to time. Of paint, I prefer Wolfe FX paint for it’s brilliancy of color and have customized my own paint pallet to create some wonderful results.
Henna art - I’ve been doing henna about 10 years now, as a contempory embellisher, more for the teen scene than a traditional approach used for weddings. I use cones filled with quality fresh henna in it’s application and find it’s a natural outlet for my drawing ability.
Pet Caricatures - I developed the skill of puppy quick sketch specifically for the Petco Stores who hired me for their grand openings throughout California and including Alaska. One has to look and draw quickly as truly dogs have a short attention span when it comes to modeling.
Name Painting- OriginallyTrained by Jodi Carr, name painting is one of the most difficult skills sets I have under my belt. As an offshoot of calligraphy, each letter of the alphabet is a painting in itself. I work with a self-created tool, a type of leather brush which I cut up old credit cards length wise and cover the tip with leather. Working with calligraphy inks I play with other compositional elements of design in addition to letter form when doing this technique.
Balloon Twisting- Twisty animals balloons are very popular and bring much pleasure and joy to people. I've been twisting for 20+ years and still delight in it. For large crowds I have a very powerful dual compressor Majiloon balloon pump that inflates balloons nearly instantaneously. As for designs, the list is long. One might think, a balloon is a balloon, but I notice I frequently get positive feedback after just a twist or two that "I'm really good".
